You can create menus, menu items, submenus, lines that separate groups of related menu items, shortcut menus, and so on using the Menu Designer and the Shortcut Designer. By creating your own menus and shortcut menus, you can customize your copy of Visual FoxPro or design menus for applications you intend to distribute.
The Menu and Shortcut Designers contain the following elements and options:
- Prompt
- Specifies menu titles and menu items in menus or shortcut menus.
- Mover Control
- Appears as a double-headed arrow button to the left of the Prompt column when you insert at least one item. You can use the mover control to arrange the order of menu items at design time.
- Result
- Specify the action that occurs when you choose a menu title or menu item. For example, you can execute a command, open a submenu, or run a procedure.
- Create
- Appears when you select Submenu or Procedure in the Result column. You can use the Create button to specify a submenu or procedure for a menu title or menu item.
- Edit
- Appears only after you have created a submenu or procedure in the Result column for a menu item. Clicking the Edit button switches the Menu Designer to the submenu or procedure associated with a menu title or menu item.
- Options
- Opens the Prompt Options dialog box, which you can use to define keyboard shortcuts and other menu options.
- Menu level
- Specifies the menu, submenu, or shortcut you are editing.
- Preview
- Displays the menu you are creating.
Item Group
- Insert

- Insert Bar
- Available only when an item is selected in the Shortcut Designer and opens the Insert System Menu Bar dialog box, which makes it possible for you to select and insert standard Visual FoxPro menu items.
- Delete
- Available only when an item is selected and deletes the selected row from the Menu Designer.
- Move Item
- Available only when an item is selected and opens the Move Item dialog box, which you can use to change the location of the menu item.
