Directs screen or printer output created with ?, ??, DISPLAY, or LIST to a text file.
SET ALTERNATE ON | OFF -or- SET ALTERNATE TO [FileName [ADDITIVE]] |
Parameters
- ON
- Directs output to the text file.
- OFF
- (Default) Disables output to the text file.
- TO FileName
- Creates the text file, which is assigned the default extension .txt unless you include a different extension with the file name. If you use SET ALTERNATE TO without FileName, the last file you created using SET ALTERNATE TO FileName is closed.
- ADDITIVE
- Appends output to the end of the file specified with FileName. If you omit ADDITIVE, the contents of the file are overwritten.
