Chapter 8. Inside Scheduling Tools

In this chapter we look at SQL Server Agent as the main task scheduling tool for SQL Server. In the SQL Server 2005 release of the product, SQL Server Agent has undergone substantial changes in terms of functionality, performance, monitoring, and security. All the changes are covered in this chapter, along with a detailed description of the architecture of SQL Server Agent and advanced service configuration options.
